A front car airbag has deflated in a steering wheel from an accident. Use it for a safety or insurance concept.

Takata, the Japanese airbag manufacturer tied to faulty airbags in millions of U.S. automobiles, has widened the scale of its product recalls to include 34 million vehicles. The announcement was made late in May. If you or someone you love has been injured – or is injured in the future – by a faulty airbag or any other defective vehicle part, discuss your rights and options immediately with an experienced Pasadena product liability attorney.

Some of the airbags manufactured by Takata can explode violently upon deployment, spraying metal fragments directly at the driver and passengers. Last year, one Florida woman’s throat was sliced, and Orlando-area police actually launched a murder investigation – until a recall notice arrived in her mailbox and police re-examined her vehicle. A total of six deaths and more than 100 injuries have been linked to the airbag defect, according to the New York Times.

Takata’s airbag problems are nothing new. Fifteen years ago, customers filed complaints with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration citing airbag problems in models with Takata airbags. Eight years later, Honda recalled more than 4,000 cars with defective Takata airbags, and six months after that, the company recalled another 510,000 vehicles.

If your vehicle is recalled for any reason, take it immediately to the nearest dealership, and you should be offered a repair or replacement at no cost. When your vehicle is recalled, it is not safe to drive, so you might want to consider hiring a tow truck instead of driving. Always keep your vehicle thoroughly maintained, and let a certified mechanic inspect your vehicle if anything seems not quite right. If you’ve been injured – or if you’re injured in the future – because of a defective part or a defective vehicle in southern California, take your case at once to an experienced Pasadena product liability attorney.

In April, Blue Bell Ice Cream recalled its entire product line – ice cream, frozen yogurt, sherbet, and other treats – because of listeria contamination. Listeria causes listeriosis, a serious bacterial infection that affects primarily pregnant women, newborns, adults with weakened immune systems, and the elderly. Three deaths in Kansas happened after the deceased persons ate products from the Blue Bell production facility in Brenham, Texas, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. If you become the victim of listeria or any other kind of food poisoning from eating ice cream or any other nourishment product in southern California, you may be able to file a product liability claim and win reimbursement for your medical treatment and related expenses. If you or someone you love has been – or becomes in the future – a food poisoning victim, discuss your legal rights and options immediately with an experienced Pasadena product liability attorney.

When you purchase a nourishment product from your local grocer or restaurant, you have the right to expect that the food is safe for you and your family. Proving that you’ve suffered nourishment poisoning can be difficult. If the food can’t be tested because it’s gone, a lab test – or your medical records – must prove that a parasite, bacteria, or virus was present in the food. All parties involved in the food’s distribution chain can be investigated; food can become tainted during processing, packaging, shipping, storage, or preparation. If you’ve suffered as a result of food poisoning, speak at once with an experienced personal injury attorney.

Listeriosis is an extremely dangerous foodborne illness; even healthy adults who are not in the high risk categories can become victims. Listeriosis symptoms can include fever, muscle aches, diarrhea and other gastrointestinal problems. If you believe that you’ve contracted food poisoning, you must get medical attention immediately. As soon as you’ve received treatment, put your case in the hands of an experienced Pasadena product liability attorney who will fight aggressively for the compensation you need and the justice you deserve.

A subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson pleaded guilty in March to a federal criminal charge that it sold over-the-counter infant’s and children’s liquid medicines – Motrin, Benadryl and Tylenol – containing flakes of metal. According to prosecutors, the company knew about the contamination for more than a year before issuing a recall in 2010. Vioxx was approved for marketing and sale in the United States on May 20, 1999, and was withdrawn from the market on September 30, 2004. Still today, Merck & Co. continues to wrap up Vioxx litigation that cost the drug manufacturer more than $5.8 billion. Along with a $4.85 billion settlement of patients’ suits in 2007, Merck paid $950 million four years later as part of a criminal plea to end a U.S. government probe of its Vioxx marketing practices. Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 1999, Vioxx became Merck’s third-largest-selling drug by 2003, generating $2.5 billion in annual sales. The company pulled Vioxx off the market in 2004 after studies found it posed an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes. Merck & Co. paid claims to the families of 3,468 Vioxx users who died of heart attacks or strokes.

Branding - Business Concept. Golden Compass Needle on a Black Field Pointing to the "Branding" Word.

E-cigarettes are marketed and advertised as a safe alternative to cigarettes and as a way to quit smoking. The marketing is somewhat misleading. E-cigarettes can be dangerous, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). E-cigarettes contain liquid nicotine cartridges that can break and expose users directly to toxic and potentially fatal liquid nicotine. The cartridges come in popular flavors, so they’re attractive to curious children. In several incidents, children have reportedly opened the cartridges and swallowed liquid nicotine. Inhaling the fumes or absorption through the skin or eyes can also cause nicotine poisoning. In a 2014 press release, CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden said, “E-cigarette liquids as currently sold are a threat to small children because they are not required to be childproof, and they come in candy and fruit flavors that are appealing to children.”

According to CDC statistics, the number of calls to poison centers involving e-cigarettes rose from one per month in September 2010 to 215 per month in February 2014. More than half of those calls involved the nicotine poisoning of children under age 5. The most common poisoning symptoms cited in those calls were vomiting, nausea, and eye irritation. If nicotine poisoning from E-cigarettes happens to you or your child, get some legal help. In the Pasadena and Los Angeles area, speak at once with an experienced Pasadena product liability attorney.

Those injured by e-cigarette-related nicotine poisoning may be able to receive compensation for their medical treatment and related damages. An experienced Pasadena product liability attorney can assess your case and provide the legal advice and guidance you need. If you or someone in your family is injured using any consumer product, don’t wait. After you’ve received medical attention, arrange as quickly as possible to speak with an experienced Pasadena product liability attorney.
